Belton and Temple, TX, are two of the largest cities in the state of Texas with a population of more than 1.5 million people. There are a number of trails in the area, so bring a dirt bike, ATV, UTV or 4x4, and if you don't want to go too far, you can start at the trailhead.
According to Texas Parks and Wildlife, Belton Lake is a popular lake for hybrid and striped bass and the best big bass lake. It is a good place to go kayaking, but fishing with small devices and spinners can be very productive. The numerous parks offer tourists and locals various amenities such as hiking, fishing, boating, picnics, camping, hiking and much more. Some of the recreation areas have a variety of activities, from horseback riding to canoeing and kayaking, as well as fishing.
You don't have to take the 22-minute drive to Belton Lake into account, but there will be a shop where you can rent boats and get services. Stillhouse Park is located on the west side of the park system, which is located along picturesque Nolan Creek. There is a 1.5 mile road that leads to Fort Hood, so the ride is pretty scenic.
With wildflowers, longhorns and soldiers training on the field, the gently winding road makes miles fly by and has much to investigate.

Belton Lake is located about 10 minutes from Temple and is a seizure area of the Leon River and Cowhouse Creek. There is a lake where you can fish, camp, boat and ski, and there is a Skydive temple. Although the coast is largely undeveloped and has steep walls overlooking the lake, it has behaved very well over the years.
